FACILITIES

OSU Cartography Services

OSU Cartography Services
Location:  313 Murray Hall          Coordinator:  Michael Larson

Provides complete cartographic support for the Department of Geography and OSU campus community. Also provides contract consulting and production services to non-OSU entities and individuals.

CARS

Center for the Applications of Remote Sensing (CARS)
Location:  305 Murray Hall          Coordinator:  Jing Wang

CARS provides research and instructional support to the OSU Department of Geography and OSU campus community in the areas of remote sensing and geographic information systems.

The library is housed in the Keso Seminar Room, which is used for graduate seminars and department meetings and functions.

This map library is housed in 311 Murray Hall.

GPS Basestation at Wentz Hall

Location:  Wentz Hall Roof

The OSU Department of Geography maintains a 12-channel Trimble Pathfinder Community Basestation that can be accessed via FTP.  The basestation receiver and data logging computer are located on the top of the Wentz Hall dormitory.  Basestation files are maintained for 90 days and then removed from the system.

 

LABORATORIES

Physical Geography Teaching Lab

Physical Geography Teaching Laboratory
Location:  345 Murray Hall          Coordinator:  Stephen Stadler

This lab provides teaching space for the lab sections of GEOG 1114 (Physical Geography) and contains various equipment for use in the lab exercises, including a large stream simulation table.  Graduate teaching assistants are housed in office space adjacent to the lab (346 Murray Hall).

GIS Lab I provides teaching space for the lab sections of GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and computer cartography related courses. The lab contains 12 desktop computers running a variety of software packages, including ArcGIS Desktop 10, Idrisi, Corel Draw, etc.

GIS Lab II is used by the graduate and undergradate students to work on their GIS-related projects. This lab is also used for teaching several advanced GIS courses. The lab contains 12 desktop computers running a variety of software packages, including ArcGIS Desktop 10, Idrisi, Corel Draw, etc.
