Internal Search for Department Head


HEAD, OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY GEOGRAPHY DEPARTMENT

The Department of Geography at Oklahoma State University invites internal applications for the position of ·Department Head. We seek an experienced faculty with a strong commitment to the disciplines that make up the Department of Geography. The Head serves as the chief spokesperson and advocate for the Department both within and outside of the University, and ensures that the Department serves as a vital resource to the state, region, and nation. Applicants should have a PhD in geography or a related field, an accomplished research and teaching record and be highly regarded and recognized by the national geography community.

Currently, the OSU Geography department has 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and five faculty members at other ranks (adjunct and emeritus faculty). The graduate program has approximately 35 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.) and our undergraduate program about 45 majors. The department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in geography, global studies, and geospatial information science, M.S. degrees in geography and Ph.D. degrees in geography. The faculty members have nationally­ funded research programs in areas mentioned above and they strongly promote involvement of undergraduate students in their research. The Department hosts regular colloquia and research seminars in different areas. The Department is known for its collegial and vibrant atmosphere, carrying out informal events supplementing its intellectual life.
