Dr. Emily Fekete Joins Faculty (Fall 2015)


Dr. Emily Fekete (PhD, University of Kansas 2015) joined the OSU geography faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Advisor this fall. Her areas of specialty include the internet and social media, communications geographies, economic geographies of consumption, and American Sign Language and Deaf geographies. Welcome aboard, Emily!

OSU Geographers involved in the Excavation of Prehistoric Mammoth

OSU geography faculty and students are involved in the exciting excavation of a prehistoric mammoth. In September 2013, a mammoth skeleton was discovered in Alfalfa County, in northwest Oklahoma. Dr. Lee Bement from the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey was notified and faculty and students from the OSU Department of Geography became involved in the project through the efforts of geography MS student Tom Cox, who recently worked with Dr. Bement. Tom is studying geoarcheology; specifically conducting a spatial and geomorphological study of mammoths and mastodons in Oklahoma.

Dr. Amy E. Frazier (PhD, The University at Buffalo, 2013) joined the OSU geography faculty as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2013. Her research areas include remote sensing, landscape ecology, natural resource management, human-environment interactions, and spatial analysis. Welcome aboard, Amy!

Geography graduate students named Finalists for OSU Three-Minute Thesis Contest

New Book and Recent Awards of Geography Faculty and Students

book greiner        Visualizing Human Geography  by Dr. Alyson Greiner published a new book and a number of our faculty members and students received awards recently.

Dr. Alyson Greiner’s new book  Visualizing Human Geography: At Home in a Diverse World (published by Wiley) recently came out.  Visualizing Human Geography provides a fresh, new pathway for building geographic literacy and introducing readers to the richness of human geography, including its many different approaches, perspectives, techniques, and tools.
